ECS at the DAACs
NASA has implemented the EOSDIS using a distributed, open system. Autonomous facilities possessing unique institutional capabilities and expertise serve as the backbone to the program. These Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs) support the EOSDIS Program by providing unique cross-discipline global change research. There are currently 9 DAACs that are responsible for processing, archiving, and distributing | EOS and other related data to
a wide user base. Each of the DAACs hosts either an ECS-designated scientist or
engineer representative (or sometimes one of each) to serve as a
DAAC Contact Information in the DAAC-ECS development relationship.
